1.    Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and solid oxide (SOFC) fuel cells

  • Development of electrodes with low content of noble metals, tolerant to the presence of carbon monoxide for PEM type fuel cells
  • Development of ceramic electrodes for SOFC fuel cells fed with natural gas (CH4) or carbon monoxide
  • Triode operation to improve the efficiency of fuel cells and its resistance to carbon deposition

2.    Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and solid oxide (SOEC) electrolysers

  • Development and manufacture of components (electrocatalysts, membrane electrode assemblies) for PEM type electrolysers
  • Development of bi-functional electrodes for regenerative fuel cells
  • Development of materials / electrodes and devices for the electrolysis of carbon dioxide and the combined electrolysis of CO2 and steam towards synthesis gas in solid oxide electrolysis cells
  • Development of efficient electrodes for symmetrical and reversible solid oxide fuel cells for electrolysis: (A) H2O and H2-O2 fuel cell and (B) H2O / CO2 combined electrolysis and H2-CO / O2 fuel cell
  • Development of integrated regenerative fuel cell systems

3.    Lithium ion batteries

  • Development of high capacity liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries capable of operating under low temperature conditions (up to -40oC) for space applications
  • Development of inorganic solid electrolytes for solid type batteries for automotive applications
